Lebron Needs History Lesson
Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 6:12PM Lebron James says he is going to change his number next year from #23 to #6 because he believes that no one should be allowed to wear that number, including himself. So as Celtics fans how should we take this? Obviously he is referring to not being allowed to wear Michael Jordans # because he is probably non-arguably the best individual talent that the league has ever seen, but why the #6?
Lebron needs a history lesson, and quickly. #6 is the number that Bill Russell wore for his entire career as a Boston Celtic. #6 is the number that Bill Russell wore for 13 years as a Boston Celtic. He won 11 championships in the 13 years that he was on that team.
Enough Yapping here are a few of the accolades that made Russell the best:
-11 Championships in 13 seasons
- Won the 1956 NCAA championship with the Univeristy of San Fransisco
- Won 5 MVP titles
- Collected 51 rebounds in a single game
- Still holds the record for most rebounds in one half with 32
- All Time record holder for playoff rebounds with 21,620
- 12 straight seasons of 1,000 rebounds or more
- NBA Finals MVP Award is named after Bill Russell
Lets Let these two pecks tell the story:
Pickas greatest of all time Bill Russell.
