Ray Allen Happy To Be Green
Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 5:51PM With all of the rumor mills spinning around the internet about Ray Allen being on the last year of his contract, was going to be shipped out of Boston. Ray clearly speaking his mind that he realizes this is a business and all but wants to stay in Boston. He even has expressed interest in resigning after this year for significantly less than what he has been making in the NBA to keep the core of players together. This is the kindve class act you want on your team. Winning a championship is very important at this time in the Celtics minds, but the core reason for why they brought this team together and made all of the trades is because they felt that they had a three year window to win A championship with the guys that they were bringing in. They won that championship after the first year of being together which no one expected. So now after accomplishing that goal, its two seasons removed from that accomplished goal and they owe it to a class act like Ray Allen to keep him on for now because he is probably going to retire in a few years anyhow.
The ideal situation especially in todays market of professional sports is for players like the ones that we have now, to retire a Celtic. These players have been in the league long enough and have had enough money and bullshit teams to deal with that it seems only right to have them retire with some decency even if it means that they have to take less cash in the last year of their contracts which clearly he understands by now.
Now that the trade deadline has come and gone, Ray can breathe a sigh of relief and continue to prove his worth. He has done everything to do that since the trading deadline. He has been on an offensive eplosion, kinda like someone who is fighting for a new contract. However, this player, Ray Ray himself, is not fighting for a contract, just seems to be happy and overly elated to be wearing the jersey of a team that isnt going to suck for the next half season. He could be in a situation right now that is much worse like all of the trades that were put on the table:
Chicago for Kirk Hinrich. Jesus they fell apart quickly in less than a year.
Golden State for Mota Ellis. Wow can you imagine? Golden State hasnt been decent since Barry was on the team, and I dont mean Brent.
New York for Nate Robinson. Im sure he would love to go from first to worse.
Since the trading deadline Ray Allen has been personally responsible for all of our victories. He has been on a scoring tear. I hope this continues for a bit because Pierce doesnt look well since he has been off of his injury. I would love it if Ray stayed, my personal fear is that he will shut down when push comes to shove come playoff time. He has done this before in the past with the Celtics, however I would love for him to take that game winner time and time again no matter what the situation.

-Welcome to stay Ray.
