Legend Speaks

Ladies and gentlemen making a guest appearance to shamrocknews the Legend himself!

As a pro-hockey fan and Bruin-supporting jackass, I lack the knowledge of basketball to analyze what I saw last night at the Garden. I know Rondo stole/passed it, KG dunked it, Pierce owned it, and everyone yelled “SHEEEED” when Wallace shot it. I can, however, comment on the change I have noticed over the years in the electrified atmosphere fueling the Celtics’ performance.

I went to my 2nd Celtics game last night against the Clippers, and it has been 6 years since I last saw the Celtics play in person. Sure, I’ve watched a game here and there on TV, watched them stomp their way through the playoffs to the championship in 2008. It’s an exciting time to watch any hometown team win the championship. When I saw the game 6 years ago with Pickalicious, I couldn’t tell you who was even playing. I couldn’t focus on the game, and the crowd was pretty silent. A half-assed round of applause once in a while sounded like some no-name golfer just saved par on the 4th hole. Last night, I couldn’t take my eyes off the game! From all the way in section 310 I felt drawn to the action. When the big screen said “NOISE,” you bet your ass I was shooting for laryngitis alongside my girlfriend. People go this crazy on a Monday night? I think the game we saw 6 years ago was a Saturday game, and I probably could have fallen asleep! The Celtics game atmosphere is way more fun than I expected, and KG’s warm-up/pump-up ritual is nutty to see in person. BTW – the Celtics won! (more than I can say for my beloved Bruins) Fear the Shamrock!
